MARYLAND, November 27 – Pamelia Adele Weaver Brooks of Cambridge, Maryland died Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, 2012. She was 92 years old. Mrs. Brooks was born at her home in Rice on November 1, 1920, the daughter of the late William Semple Weaver and Ida Walton Weaver. She was the fourth of six children. She married the late John Clayton Brooks on June 20, 1946 in Rice. Mr. Brooks died on July 24, 2008. They were married for 62 years.

Mrs. Brooks was educated at public schools in Prince Edward County. She graduated from Rice High School and attended Mary Washington College.

She joined the U. S. Navy in 1942 and was stationed in Norfolk where she worked in communications. It was there that she met her future husband on a blind date. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She held membership in Grace United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by three sons, John C. Brooks Jr. and wife Diana, William W. Brooks and wife, Kathy, and Joseph N. Brooks and wife, Barbara, all of Cambridge; daughter, Bonnie C. Brooks who died in 1996; grandchildren, John Clayton Brooks, III and wife, Lisa, Joseph Andrew Brooks and wife, Melinda, Matthew S. Brooks and wife, Amanda, Erik W. Brooks and wife, Meredith, Patrick M. Brooks and wife, Megan, Susannah L. Brooks, and Morgan E. Brooks; great-grandchildren, John Clayton Brooks, IV and Sophie Ross Brooks, another great-grandson is due in February; sister, Mabel W. Taylor of Farmville; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, James W. Weaver, William S. Weaver Jr., Mildred W. Jenkins, and Lily W. Banks.

A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race Street, Cambridge, on Saturday, December 1, at 1 pm with the Rev. Christina Blake officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Brooks donated her body for educational use to the Maryland State Anatomy Board. Interment will be in the family plot at Dorchester Memorial Park.
