Hopes For Election Day

Editor, The Herald:
The Presidential elections are here again, and what does one say that hasn't been said? The choices, the counter charges, the entrenched positions. Will anything change even if things change? The national debt is now over 16 trillion, and counting upwards, and the list goes on and on.
This trip to the polls will feel more like a trudge. A weary march of one soul speaking its mind. Hope is dwindling fast, I think. The night is closing in. Will there be enough light to turn the tide?
I pray that there is. That this great nation will live a while longer. If it is not to be, then it is not to be. But I for one will mourn such an end. America had blessed the world with its birth of freedom, its protection of the underdog, its concept of the rule of the law. God has been with her.
When the smoke clears on the 7th, may that banner still wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
