Editor, The Herald:

During the week of Veterans Day the Farmville VFW Post held its annual Buddy Poppy campaign. Post members distributed the poppies and accepted donations for our veterans' relief fund for three days. We were helped by the good weather and the excellent locations provided by several businesses. As each day passed we were all struck by the generosity of those who came by our locations. Everyone has felt the impact of the present economy but so many paused to give. In addition, they often spoke of family and friends who had served and of those currently serving in Afghanistan and other places around the globe.

We would like to thank the members of this community for their support. The Veterans of Foreign Wars will be better able to help veterans in need because of your concern and kindness.
