Spreading God's Gifts Inc. of Buckingham would like to take this opportunity to thank co-sponsors Puckett Funeral Home of Farmville, Dillwyn Food Lion, Volunteers and all those who attended the spaghetti dinner concert on Saturday evening, October 20, at the Buckingham County Middle School. Also, thanks to seventeen year old Holly Cook, of Midlothian, and Smokey Wilson, of Concord, for the best in Southern Gospel Music. Over $1,000 was raised.
Welcome home to Herman (FROG) Taylor of Dillwyn who spent several days recently at the hospital. He returned home on Monday, October 22.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut-in. The Hyrd Family Reunion was held on Saturday, October 20, in Fries, Virginia. A nice crowd attended and enjoyed the festivities. Attending locally were Elizabeth Stoney of Dillwyn and James and Virginia Boyles of Cumberland.
Pete and Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, visited in the home of Ella Mae Dunn in Farmville, on Thursday, October 18, Walter Stimpson and Grace Ownby, also in Farmville, on Monday, October 22 and Curtis and Faye Marion in Cumberland on Tuesday, October 23.
Welcome home to Faye Marion who spent October 16-20 in the hospital. She is said to be doing okay as of this writing.
Dot Brown, of Richmond, spent a few days this week with her sister, Ann Carter, in Dillwyn.
The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association will hold their Annual Thanksgiving Banquet on Saturday, November 1 at 1 p.m. in the VFW Hall, located on Route 60 in Buckingham. All members are cordially invited to attend and bring a vegetable, salad, bread or dessert item. Note: meats and beverages will be provided by the association. Following the meal door prizes will be awarded and there will be special music by Holly Cook of Midlothian. Maranatha Baptist Church, located on Tuggle Road in Farmville, will be hosting their annual Thanksgiving Special Service on Sunday, November 11.
Sunday School will begin at 10 a.m. followed by morning worship at 11 a.m. The guest speaker for both Sunday School and worship will be Brother Mike Ward, a Missionary to Africa and the Middle East. He is a teacher for National Pastors preparing for the ministry. Following this there will be Thanksgiving Feast in the church fellowship hall.
