BURKEVILLE, October 9 – Dorothy Wright Phillips, 70, of Burkeville, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at her residence. She loved to go to her granddaughter's horse shows.

She is survived by a son, Edward Allen Phillips Jr. and wife, Crystal of Rice; granddaughter, Dawn Hicks and husband, Richard; and great-granddaughter, Rachel Jean Hicks all of Cumberland; two brothers, Charles “Billy” William Wright and Joseph “Son” Reed Wright Jr.; sister, Eva Mae Smith; and special friends, Evelyn Moody, Lisa Downey, Ted Carter, John and Sarah Hurst. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Allen Phillips Sr. and a sister, Mary Virginia Wright.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, in the Chapel of Shorter Funeral Home with interment to follow in Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
