OCTOBER 16 – Donald Ray Ferguson joined our heavenly Father on Monday, October 15, 2012 after a chivalrous battle with cancer. He was born on May 19, 1953, the son of Sam and Mary Jane Ferguson of Prospect.
He was married to his high school sweetheart, Brenda Walton Ferguson, for 40 loving years. Together they raised two won-derful children, Randall Scott Ferguson and Ashley Walton Ferguson. A man of character, strength, quiet leadership, kindness, and sharp wit, he was loved by his family and community. His giving heart touched many as a coach, teacher, mentor, and friend.

He was an avid sports and outdoor enthusiast with an uncanny knack for remembering stats, trivia, dates, and landmarks.
In addition to his wife and children, he is also survived by daughter-in-law, Lisa Ferguson; grandchildren, Taylor and Justin McCarty; brother, John Mitchell and wife, Rose of Singer, Louisiana; brother, Sammy Ferguson and wife, Gloria of Farmville; sister, Debra Goodrich and husband, Teddy of Keysville; and many adoring nieces, nephews, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
