August 9 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Kevin Marion (50) of Cumberland, and Cece Waycaster daughter of Tommy Jo (T.J) and Stephanie Waycaster of Powhatan, both celebrating on August 11, Odell Ragland, of Buckingham, celebrating on Sunday, August 12; and Jane Cooke, of Brookneal, celebrating on Wednesday, August 15.

Our thoughts and prayers go out this week to those who are sick and shut-in.

Bradley Carter, of North Carolina, visited in the home of his sister, Ann Carter, of Dillwyn over the weekend.

Our sympathy is extended to the Dunn family of Farmville. James (Budd) Dunn, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 30. A funeral service was held on August 2. He was a dear friend and loved by all.

Barry and Linda Miles of Cumberland visited several patients Tuesday, Aug. 7 n Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Dillwyn in honor of Kevin Marion's 50th birthday. A surprise supper was held prior to Kevin Marion's 50th on Saturday evening, July 21 at the Cumberland County Fire Department. A large crowd packed out the facility with great food, fun and fellowship.

Pete and Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, visited several patients at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Dillwyn on Monday, August 6.

Congratulations to Dallas Short who celebrated his birthday on Thursday, August 9.

Through for the Day: Great achievement requires great perseverance.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a non-profit organization, will hold their regular monthly meeting on Saturday, August 11 at 1 p.m. at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, located on US Route 15 North of Dillwyn. All members are cordially invited to attend and bring a covered dish. The Association will provide tea. A Jam session will follow with singers and musicians. The annual former Craddock Terry Shoe Factory breakfast meeting will be held on Saturday, August 11, at 9 a.m. at Country Cookin' in Farmville. All former employees and their spouses are cordially invited to attend.
