The attire for the wedding party was simple yet elegant. All of the Groomsmen wore the traditional southern gentleman's summer attire–seersucker pants and vest accented with pink ties. The Bridesmaids were dressed in gold from head to toe–dress, shoes and accent jewelry. The bridal gown was a silk ivory dress with a crossover bodice designed by JCrew. The bride wore baby's breath in her hair. She was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her father, mother, brother, and sister (Kate is a triplet). The bouquets carried by the bride and bridesmaids were composed of Hostas, Bells of Ireland and purple, blue and green Hydrangeas from the garden of a family friend and were arranged by the mother of the bride, aunt of the bride, Lynn Morris ,and family friend, Liz Carden.

After being pronounced husband and wife, all gathered for pictures while hors d'oeuvres and drinks were served. Bluegrass music at this time was provided by the Craig County Boys of Southwest VA. The father of the bride welcomed everyone for dinner while the father of the groom offered the blessing. Dinner was catered by Prue Davis Catering which is local to the Sandy Point area. Dinner was followed by toasts, dancing with music by DJ John Aiken, and a slice of homemade pie provided by the wedding guest. Flowers that accented the tables at the reception were from a local gardener, Betty King, and arranged by the ladies who arranged the bouquets. The evening was topped by fireworks provided by a college friend, Scott Beaver. At the end of the evening the couple departed under the light of sparklers held by family and friends. At that time, they hopped on a bicycle built for two hosting a just married sign as they rode off into the moonlight to their honeymoon cottage on the water.
