“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious.” The songs, the story, and the performers are all here in the movie that's delighted audiences for over 45 years! Downtown Film Series is proud to announce the final film of the 2012 season of Stars Under the Stars: Disney's Mary Poppins.

Released in 1964, Mary Poppins (Rated G) stars the incomparable Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke in the tale of a magical English nanny who blows in on the East Wind. A tea party on the ceiling and dancing on rooftops are just two of the adventures this mysterious nanny shares with the Banks children.

Mary Poppins was nominated for an incredible 13 Academy Awards and won five of them, including the Oscar for Best Actress for Julie Andrews, Best Music (Original Song), and Best Score. And speaking of the songs, this movie has no shortage of songs to get stuck in the viewer's head. It could be “A Spoonful of Sugar,” Van Dyke's “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” the frantic “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” or all of the above!
