PROSPECT, July 3 – Ivor Scruggs Lewarne, 84, of Prospect, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012. She was born in Charles City, October 27, 1927, the daughter of the late Lee Fitchett Adams and Lottie Lampkin Adams. She was retired after 25 years of service from Craddock & Terry Shoe Corporation and was also employed for over 18 years with Prince Edward Academy.

Mrs. Lewarne is survived by her husband, Buddy Jim Lewarne of Prospect; daughter, Shirley Childress of Lynchburg; son, David Scruggs and wife, Denise of Forest; three grandsons, Allen Scruggs, and wife, Robin of Prospect, Edward Christian Kelly of Prospect, and David Brandon Scruggs of Forest; granddaughter, Christina S. Pettersen of Roanoke; four great-grandchildren, Jennifer Kress, Haille Pettersen, Kiera Pettersen and Aidyn Christian Kelly; three step-daughters, Brenda Lewarne, Nancy Given and Geneva Elder; sister, Louise Smith of Christiansburg; two brothers, Edward Adams and wife, Carol of Kinston, NC and Russell Adams and wife, Brenda of Alpharetta, GA; many loving family members and friends including her dearest friend, Gladys Fulcher of Prospect. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 62 years, David Christian Scruggs, sisters, Edna Garrett, Elsie Perkins, and Edith Hall and brothers, Lewis Adams and Floyd Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 4, at Olive Branch United Methodist Church, Prospect. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
