MEHERRIN, July 31 – Gerald York Sparkman, 84, of Meherrin, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Sparkman; son, John Gerald Sparkman and wife, MaryAnn; two daughters, Anne Sparkman Tuck and husband, Ryland, and Susan Elizabeth Frank and husband, Steven; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 2, in the Meherrin Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Meherrin Presbyterian Church.

The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home, Keysville, is in charge of arrangements.
