JUNE 5 – Gladys Page Carson, 97, of Farmville, died peacefully at home on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Born March 13, 1915, to Charlie Baxter Page and Grace Coleman Page, she was married to the late Uriel Carter Carson.

She was a member of the Farmville Presbyterian Church and Rebekah Assembly of Virginia. Affectionately known as the Roll Lady, she spent her thirty-plus retirement years sharing her homemade rolls with family, friends, and strangers. Many who never met her enjoyed her rolls, and all who did meet her discovered a small lady who demonstrated pure, unselfish love.

Mrs. Carson is survived by a son, U. Carter Carson Jr. and wife, Liz of Amelia; daughter, Shirley Carson Walker and husband, Ken of Glen Allen; six grandchildren, Matthew Bradford Carson of Richmond, Scott Carter Carson of Asheville, NC, Isabel Wysor Carson of Charlotte, NC, Kenneth Lloyd Walker Jr. and Lauren of San Francisco, CA, Carson Page Walker Miller and Doug of Arlington, and Ann Partee Walker of London, England; sister, Vernelle Bellon of Baltimore, MD; brothers, Charlie W. Page and Edith of Colonial Heights and S. Ray Page and June of Appomattox; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and five sisters.

A service of celebration for her life was held Sunday at the Farmville Presbyterian Church.
