Dixie Youth Baseball and Dixie Softball district tournaments begin play this weekend for Prince Edward Farmville teams. Three PEFYA clubs will begin competition on Friday.

DYB Coach Pitch

Prince Edward Farmville's Instructional (coach pitch) All-Stars team will participate in the District V Tournament in Blackstone beginning on Friday afternoon.

The PEFYA All-Stars will play in the nightcap beginning at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Prince Edward Farmville was the District V champion in 2011, and fared well at the state level. The PEFYA All-Stars and were one of three teams to represent the Commonwealth in the Dixie Youth Baseball AA Regional Tournament.

Due to last year's showing in the Virginia State Tournament, PE Farmville has already secured an automatic bid into this year's tournament, that will begin play on July 13 in Lunenburg.

Dixie Softball Darlings

The Dixie Softball District I Tournaments will be held in Lawrenceville at historic Sonny Wholey Park.

The Darlings and Angels Tournaments will be held this weekend, with the Ponytails and Belles to follow next weekend.

The Prince Edward Farmville Darlings team will play Lunenburg in the 8 p.m. game on Friday night.

Should the PEFYA All-Stars win, they will move on to a 7:30 p.m. game on Saturday against the Emporia/Clarksville winner.

The Prince Edward Farmville/Lunenburg loser will move into the elimination bracket, and will play the Emporia/Clarksville loser at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Dixie Softball Angels

The Prince Edward Farmville Angels team will play Clarkesville in the 8:30 p.m. game on Friday night. The winner will remain in the late (8 p.m.) slot on Saturday, and will play the Dinwiddie/Brunswick winner.

The losers of the two above-mentioned games will square off in an elimination game on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Lawrenceville will host the District I Ponytails and Belles Tournament beginning next Friday.

Prince Edward Farmville will not field a team in the Ponytails bracket, but will participate in the Belles Tournament.
