MAY 24 – Happy birthday wishes go out to Della Ford, of Cumberland, celebrating on Saturday, May 26; Casey Marion, of Cumberland, celebrating on Monday, May 28; Bob Luke, of Cumberland, celebrating on Tuesday, May 29; Sue Morgan, of Buckingham, celebrating on Wednesday, May 30; and Nat Cooke, of Cartersville, celebrating on Thursday, May 31.
Our thoughts and prayers go out this week to those who are sick and shut-in.
The annual Hudgins Family Reunion was held on Sunday, May 20 at the home of James and Virginia Boyles in Cumberland. A large crowd attended. The family member traveling the longest distance came from Alexandria. The oldest man was Pete Miles of Dillwyn, and the oldest lady was Elizabeth Stone of Dillwyn. Cash prizes went out to Mericia Boyles of Dillwyn, Ida Boyles and Michelle Boyles.

Remember: Memorial Day weekend begins Friday, May 25 and extends through Monday, Memorial Day, May 28. Have a happy and safe one. Many people will be traveling over the long holiday weekend. Let us remember those and their families who have fought and who are continuing to fight for our freedom.
Spreading God's Gifts, Inc. is a local non-profit home-grown faith-based ministry organization assisting individuals or families in need. Primarily serving Buckingham and surrounding counties.
On Saturday evening, June 2 from 4-6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church in Dillwyn, Spreading God's Gifts will host a pulled pork bar-b-que dinner and gospel music concert for a donation. The menu will include pulled pork bar-b-que, coleslaw, baked beans, chips, drink and dessert. Throughout the evening special music will be presented by Second Time Around. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a non-profit organization, will hold their regular monthly meeting on Saturday, June 2 at 1 p.m. at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, located just off of U.S. Route 20 north of Dillwyn or U.S. Route 15 north of Dillwyn on State Route 652 (Bridgeport Road) in Arvonia. All members are cordially invited to attend and bring a covered dish. Tea will be provided by the association. Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church, located off of U.S. Route 15 north of Dillwyn in Arvonia on State Route 672, will host a gospel sing and supper on Saturday, June 2. A buffet supper will begin at 6 p.m. followed by gospel music from church singers and musicians beginning at 7 p.m. A love offering will be received. All are invited to attend.
