Mary Maxey Patteson

FRONT ROYAL, May 29 – Mary Maxey Patteson, of Front Royal, formerly of her beloved Buckingham County, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2012. She was the widow of Thomas Earl Patteson Jr. and the devoted mother of Thomas E. Patteson III, M.D. (Brenda), Audrey Ragland (Gordon), and Patricia Martin (John.) She was the daughter of Leonard F. and Etta Self Maxey.

Mrs. Patteson attended Longwood College, was a talented and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a lifelong member of Sharon Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Extension Service Home Demonstration Club, the Farm Bureau and served as a leader in 4-H.

She is survived by a brother, Henry Maxey (Linda); a sister, Josephine White; sisters-in-law, Ester Maxey, Hazel Maxey, and Marge Maxey; grandchildren, Gil Ragland, Angie Baime, Stephen Martin, Joseph Martin, Jennifer Patteson, and Thomas Patteson IV; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Sharon Baptist Church on Tuesday (today), May 29.

Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, was in charge of arrangements.
