DILLWYN, April 26 – Shirley Tyler Newton, 59, of Dillwyn, died Monday, April 23, 2012 in Charlottesville. She was the daughter of Blanche Banton and the late William Ernest Tyler and was a Certified Nursing Assistant with Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Dillwyn for over 25 years.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Luther Lawrence Newton Jr. (L.L.) of Dillwyn; son and daughter-in-law, Luther (Junior) and Katie Dunkum of Dillwyn; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Allen Shumaker of Dillwyn; daughter, Anne LeSueur and Marshal Shumaker of Dillwyn; step-son, Troy Newton of Richmond; brother, Johnny and Susan Tyler of Scottsville; sister, Linda Hackett; brother-in-law, Charles Hackett of Dillwyn; mother-in-law, Janie Mae Newton Kromer of Dillwyn; grandchildren, Amber and Stephen Call, Brianna and Tyler LeSueur, Grace and Gavin Dunkum; nephews, Ryan Tyler, Brad and Ashley Tyler and Josh and Clint Hackett and special friend, Lynn Sprouse of Buckingham.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, in the Chapel of Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
