SOUTH BOSTON, April 10 – Robert Fulton Overstreet Sr., of South Boston, died Saturday, April 7, 2012. He was born August 31, 1926 in Halifax, the son of the late Charles Carrington Overstreet and Annie Crews Overstreet of Halifax.

Mr. Overstreet was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Charlotte County and was an active member of AA celebrating over 37 years of sobriety.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Ann Overstreet Hogate and husband, Sid of Kernersville, NC, Lucinda Carroll Overstreet Mitchell and husband, William of Yorktown and Shirley Anne Overstreet Townsend of Farmville; two sons, Robert Fulton Overstreet Jr. and wife, Linda of Keysville and John Carrington Overstreet of Rural Hall, NC; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Overstreet and wife, Adrian; sister, Margaret Overstreet Ferris and husband, Bill; sister-in-law, Gerri Crim; brothers-in-law, James Richardson of New York and Jeff Richardson and wife, Jenny of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Eleanor Richardson Overstreet.

He also left behind several dedicated friends including many special friends from AA and the South Boston Speedway.

Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday (today) with the Reverend Jimmy Lewis officiating.
