Community Supports Lions Club
Editor, The Herald:
The Farmville Lions Club wishes to express sincere appreciation to the people of Farmville and the surrounding area for their generous support of White Cane Days held earlier in April. In spite of the economy, contributions totaled over $4,000 and 40 pairs of eyeglasses were donated for recycling. These contributions will assist the Club in benefiting the blind directly, providing examinations and glasses for the needy, funding sight and hearing research as well as providing nutritional and medical assistance to individuals in third world countries.
As our local Lions Club strives to serve those who are blind or who need information on protecting or improving their vision, we wish to thank The Farmville Herald, Food Lion, Kroger, Wal-Mart, and WFLO for their support. It is a blessing to be part of a caring community that is supportive of the needs of others.
