BUCKINGHAM – It's Cash Bingo Night at the Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department on Friday, April 13. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and Bingo starts at 7.
On Friday, April 13, Mourners Valley is hosting a free movie night featuring the movie Courageous. Doors open at 6 p.m. and everyone is invited.
On Sunday April 15, at 3 p.m., the church will celebrate the fourth pastoral anniversary of the Reverend Charles E. Simms.
Dr. Earl Pendleton, Associate Minister of Mount Zion First African Baptist Church will be the guest preacher and his choir and ushers will accompany him.
Dinner will be served following the morning worship service, at approximately 1:15 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join with Mourners Valley for this very special day of worship, celebration, and food.
Mourners Valley Baptist Church is located on Route 20, at 5341 South Constitution Route.
Ellis Acres Memorial Park and the Buckingham Active Seniors, which is sponsored by the Buckingham County Department of Recreation, invite everyone to join with them to celebrate Earth Day, on Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Ellis Acres.
Anyone that can lend a hand in beautifying the grounds is encouraged to participate.
The To Do List includes general clean up; raking leaves, clearing brush and debris throughout the park; mulching, planting, and installation of new flower garden areas; clearing the paths along the walking trail; and collecting trash along the ditch lines.
Moreover, EAMP has designated an area in the park for the construction of a Bird and Butterfly Garden for the Buckingham Active Seniors. So help is needed to work with members of B.A.S. to plant the garden.
Schools, school-related organizations and classes, clubs, churches, civic organizations and community groups along with individuals are invited to participate in this very special day.
Throughout the day, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing your part in being a good steward of the environment as you work with others to help make this small part of the Earth beautiful.

Central Virginia Christian School is gearing up for its seventh CVCS Golf Tournament.
This annual fundraiser is planned for April 28 at the Farmville Municipal Golf Course.
The Captain's Choice Tournament is open to all golfers who want to form teams of four and enjoy a day of golfing and good food.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three teams, closest to the pin, and longest drive.

On Saturday, May 12, the Buckingham Lions Club, which hosts Buckingham County Day, is partnering with Dillwyn to celebrate the town's centennial anniversary. So, rather than its usual location behind BCHS, Buckingham County Day will take place in the Town of Dillwyn.
Although vendors and displays will be open at 9 a.m., the celebration will officially start with a parade at 10 a.m. The theme for the parade, which is being handled by the 100th Anniversary Committee, is Come Home to Dillwyn.
The daylong festival will include arts and crafts, vendors, activities for children and youth, educational and informational exhibits and displays, food, and music.
The covered pavilion at Ellis Acres Memorial Park will be the venue for great music and entertainment. Free shuttle bus service will be available throughout the day from parking areas to mid-town and Ellis Acres.

The Buckingham Public Library Board is sponsoring a raffle offering an Acer Aspire 15″ Pentium laptop computer as the grand prize; a Kindle Fire as the second prize; and $100 cash as the third prize.
Tickets are $10 but only 300 are available. The drawing will be held at the library on Buckingham County Day, May 12, at 1 p.m. You do not have to be present to win. Proceeds will benefit the library building fund. Tickets are available at the library or by contacting any library board member.
On Saturday, April 28, beginning at 3 p.m. until, Buckingham Baptist Church is hosting a kick-off event at the church for its Project iCARE.
Project iCARE is an anti-bullying campaign. The campaign offers awareness about bullying, teaches prevention, and provides resources and support to youth in the community.
This kick-off event will include activities, games, food and worship. Live music will be performed by Strike the Rock, a praise and worship band from Richmond.
Buckingham Baptist Church is located on north of Dillwyn on Route 15 in Gold Hill. Everyone is invited.
Ellis Acres Memorial Park is hosting its annual EAMP Fundraising Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 19, at The Manor Resort and Golf Club, located at 3463 Farmville Road in Farmville.
This Captain's Choice tournament has a tee time of 8:30 a.m. Entry fee is $260 per team of four or $65 per person. There is a 25 team limit so please register ASAP.

Buckingham County Health Department and the Buckingham County Animal Control Office are sponsoring a Rabies Clinic on Saturday, April 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Buckingham County Middle School.
Cost is $6 per dog or cat rabies vaccination. Dr. Elizabeth G. Hazelgrove will be the attending veterinarian.
Please note that all cats must be restrained by cage or crate.
Virginia law REQUIRES rabies inoculation of all dogs and domesticated cats four months of age and older.
Folks at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church are gearing up for a Yard and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 5, from 7 a.m. until.
Along with lots of great bargains and baked goods, the kitchen crew will be serving breakfast and lunch.
Proceeds will help with the church's operating expenses. Mt. Tabor UMC is located on Route 56, South James River Highway.
VFW Post 8446 plans to erect a Wall of Honor at the VFW Hall on Route 60 for all veterans from any branch of the U. S. Armed Services.
The Wall of Honor will be constructed with engraved bricks placed in honor or in memory of veterans who were discharged honorable.
