Mildred Oliver “Millie” Robertson, 84

CHARLOTTESVILLE, March 1 – Mildred Oliver “Millie” Robertson, 84, passed away in her home in Charlottesville on Monday, February 27, 2012. She was born on January 7, 1928 in Farmville, the daughter of the late Otto M. and Bessie Mann Oliver.

Mrs. Robertson moved to Charlottesville in 1966 with her former husband, William “Bill” Maye Robertson, III and their children to found Robertson Electric Co. A wife, mother and homemaker, she loved her role of managing the home and caring for her family. Her love of adventure, golf, gardening, entertaining, and travel were a large part of her life. She enjoyed dancing, especially jitterbugging, and music. Most will remember her as having a contagious sense of humor as well as being incredibly generous.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah L. Wadsworth of Charlottesville and Susan Robertson-Matthews and husband, Peter of Punta Gorda, FL; grandchildren, Jennifer A. Harrelson of Richmond, Brandy P. Collier of Ruckersville, Emily A. Robertson and William Maye “Clay” Robertson V of Springfield, GA; great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Clarence Easter, and her devoted friend of more than 50 years, Marjetta Timm of Winston Salem, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances O. Easter, Margaret O. Wilson, and Ruth O. Hudson, two brothers, Robert E. “Pete” Oliver and Thomas W. Oliver, daughter, Candace Robertson Taylor, and son, William Maye “Pete” Robertson, IV.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at the Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville.
