Recently Mayor Sydnor Newman signed the proclamation officially declaring Saturday, March 31 as Arbor Day for the Town of Farmville. The Town's Tree Board and the Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners will give away tree seedlings that day from 9 a.m. until noon in front of the garden center of Wal-Mart in Farmville. The town is also sponsoring a tree photo contest with entries being accepted through April 16. Go to the website, www.farmvilleva.com, for details.
