County Attorney Position

CUMBERLAND – After conducting three interviews this week, the Cumberland County Board of Supervisors is closer to making a proposal to fill the advertised staff county attorney position.
Earlier this week, the Board voted on a motion, and it passed on a three-to-two vote, to send a contract to Vivian Giles, applicant for county administrator.
During a special called meeting on Wednesday evening, Supervisor Kevin Ingle, District Three, made a motion that Ms. Giles respond to that contract by the Board's next meeting on Thursday “so that we'll be able to take action on any other contract that is left to be done as far as an additional attorney agreement…”
The Board's intent with its decision on Wednesday evening was to have a draft contract for staff county attorney in front of them after receiving the counter offer from Ms. Giles, according to the discussion.
That motion passed unanimously.
“I apologize that this has taken another day but I just want to know that I took an extra day and felt right about it. I apologize,” said Ingle.
The events from the Board's Thursday meeting will be included in continuing coverage in the next edition of The Herald.
