February 9 – “The best prophet of the future is the past.”

This is the first weekend for the Waterworks new production “Almost, Maine”. Did you get your ticket yet? What are you waiting for anyway? “Almost, Maine” will also be next weekend, 17-18.

Phil Kelsey of Rancho Cucamonga California visited his mother, Mrs. Peggy Kelsey during this past week. While here they attended the Hampden – Sydney and Emory and Henry basketball game.

Mrs. Flora Bolt accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Terri) Bolt, Brandon Bolt and friend to church on Sunday followed by lunch at the Huddle House.

Last week some friends, Jo Smith, Bobbie Leatherwood, Shirley Fulcher, Blondell Bowman, Raymond Dickerson, Joyce and Fred Floyd, Margaret and Richard Stockton and Sean Stockton met at Merk's Place for lunch and catching up on news.

The “Breakfast Bunch”, Scott and Hilda Friend, George and Shirley Moore, Don and Betty Meadows, and Richard and Margaret Stockton met for breakfast and fellowship on Monday at Merk's Place.

The Prospect Happy Hats held their February meeting at “Rock Branch” studio.

Those enjoying a soup and sandwich lunch were Edith Vaughan, Joyce Floyd, Margaret Stockton, Lois Johnson, Hilda Allen, Elfrieda Kerns, Lorraine Chapman, Lois Gager, Sandra Leonard, Ann Norton, Jeannette Tarlton, Pat Smith and Betty Meadows. A big thank you to Edith Vaughan for allowing us to use her facility.

Family, friends and neighbors wish a speedy recovery for those who are sick at this time; Joshua Whirley, Mrs. Elsie Wilson, Mrs. Linda W. Campbell, Mrs. Dolly Worthy, Paul Greene, Mrs. Elizabeth Mason, Cecelia Culler and Mrs. Page Johnson.

A reminder, mark your calendar for next Saturday Feb.18; the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will have their Pancake Supper from 5-7 pm. The menu will consist of pancakes, sausage, bacon, ham, apples, coffee, tea and lemonade. The cost is a donation

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11a.m. Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be in the pulpit this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. William “Bill” Clark will be at Davis Memorial this Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner
