January 5 – “Let every day start with a song in your heart.”

A belated Happy Birthday is wished to Billy Mottley whose birthday was the Dec. 29.

Mrs. Peggy Kelsey had most of her family home during the holidays. Philander Kelsey from Rancho Cucamonga, California, Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Kelsey and daughter Celena of Tuggle; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Shumaker and children Debra Sue and Darrell of Prospect; and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Kelsey and Bryson Philander of Chesterfield were present. They attended the Seton Hall – Longwood basketball game Dec. 23.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fulcher were in attendance at the Christmas covered dish dinner of the Gideon's on Monday night. The fellowship and food was most enjoyable.

On Dec. 26 the annual Kelsey Family Christmas party was held at the Fellowship Hall of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle.

A New Year's Eve celebration was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows. Those joining in the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. John Gager, Mr. and Mrs. George Moore, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton.

Mrs. Polly Duncan and Mrs. Peggy Kelsey attended the funeral of Mrs. Phyllis Towler on Monday, after which Polly Duncan visited her sister Peggy Kelsey.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows attended a lunch on New Year's day hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Schall.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fulcher were among the many attending the birthday celebration Dec. 29 for Billy Mottley.

The Arrington Family held their annual Christmas Party last Saturday in the Piney Ridge Methodist Church fellowship hall. Most of the family was present.

January 2 found Mr. and Mrs. Scott Friend, Mr. and Mrs. George Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton celebrating the New Year with breakfast at Merk's Place. There was much catching up going on since they last met.

Mary Jo Stockton and son Sean have returned home following a three-week in Scotland during Christmas and New Year's visiting her parents, brothers and their families, and some long time friends.

Family, friends and neighbors wish a speedy recovery for those who are sick at this time; Mr. Billy Slayton, Mrs. Naomi Skinner, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Adcock, and Mrs. Flora Bolt,

Friends and neighbors are expressing their sincere sympathy to the family of Phyllis Towler.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be in the pulpit this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Otis Worley will fill the pulpit this Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
