JANUARY 17 – Mattie C. Vaughan, 88, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at The Woodland. She was born in Prince Edward County and was the daughter of the late William Lockett Vaughan and Bessie Bondurant Vaughan.

Miss Vaughan attended Mitchell College in Statesville, NC. She worked for the FBI in Washington, DC for 35 years retiring in December 1978. After retiring she moved to Farmville.

She was a member of the Farmville Presbyterian Church and was a charter member of Chapter 2080 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. After her retirement she was a volunteer at Southside Community Hospital.

She is survived by two nieces, Bonnie M. Ormerod and Betty Leigh Heckman, both of Florida.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, January 19 at 11 a.m. in the Jamestown Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Rice.

Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, Farmville, is in charge of arrangements.
