Elizabeth Slayton (Foster) Benhoff

JANUARY 10 – Elizabeth Slayton (Foster) Benhoff, 101, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012 after an extended illness. She was born in Fairfax County, December 2, 1910.
Her husband, William Henry Benhoff Jr. passed away November 7, 1997. On his retirement in 1975, they relocated from the DC Metro area to Prospect where they were active in the Prospect United Methodist Church. Mrs. Benhoff was an accomplished quilter and an ardent gardener. She was residing at the Woodland Community in Farmville.
She is survived by her children, Maxine Shute, William Benhoff III and Bonnie Nash; grandchildren, Bonnie Shute, Robin Judy, Terry Potter, Charles Benhoff, David Benhoff, Elizabeth McAndrew, Michael Nash and Steven Nash: and 16 great-grandchildren
The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Louis Liotta, the Woodland Chaplain, at the Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, on Monday, January 9. She was interred beside her husband at Trinity Memorial Gardens in nearby Rice.
Following the gravesite service, a reception was held at the Hampton Inn, Farmville.
