December 29 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Barbara Wyland, of Scottsville, celebrating on Friday, December 30, and Tommy Jo (T.J.) Waycaster, of Powhatan, celebrating on Thursday, January 5.

An Annual Pre-Christmas Luncheon was held on Sunday, December 18, at the home of James and Virginia Boyles of Cumberland. A large crowed attended and enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship.

Welcome home to Fern Dunnavant, of Dillwyn, who spent some time at Saint Mary's Hospital in Richmond. She is said to be doing okay as of this writing.

Our thoughts and prayers go out this week to those who are sick and shut-in.

Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, and Jane Cooke, of Brookneal, enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Eve morning breakfast on Saturday, December 24 at a Farmville Restaurant.

Tommy and Mary Davis, of Sutherland, along with their daughter, Angie, of Amelia, and Elizabeth, Tina and Holly Cook, of Powhatan, and Barry and Linda Miles spent Christmas Day with Ruby Cogdill in Cumberland. The Miles and the Cooks also enjoyed Christmas Day lunch together at a Farmville Restaurant.

Happy Anniversary wishes go out to Willie and Frances Bowles, of Farmville, celebrating on Tuesday, January 3, and Bill and Opal Pembelton, of Powhatan, celebrating on Wednesday, January 4.

An Annual Christmas Brunch was held at the home of Tommy Jo (T.J.) Waycaster in Powhatan on Monday, December 26. A large crowd enjoyed great food fellowship and gift exchanges.

Spreading God's Gifts Inc. held their drawing at Taylor's Convenience Store in Dillwyn on Friday evening December 23. The First Place winner was Helen Connell, of Dillwyn, winning a handmade throw cover made and donated by Katie Taylor of Dillwyn; the Second Place winner was Drew Midkiff, of Dillwyn, winning a hand-painted portrait donated by Nan Show's Pet Portraits in Buckingham; and Third Place winner was Barbara Baronet, of Cumberland, winning a $40 gift certificate to Pino's Italian Restaurant in Dillwyn.

Twenty-four family members and friends gathered on Monday, December 26 in honor of Ruby Cogdill's 87th birthday. Ms. Cogdill is a resident of Cumberland. A nice time was had by all.

The Buckingham County Christian fellowship Association, a non-profit organization, will be entering their 24th year as a group. On Saturday, January 7, at 1 p.m. all former members and perspective members are cordially invited to attend. Kick Off Meeting at Cedar Baptist Church, located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 650 (Trents Mill Road). All members are asked to attend and bring a covered dish with meats, tea and coffee to be provided by the Association. Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church, located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn in Arvonia on State Route 672, will host a New Year's Eve Watch Night Service on Saturday, December 31.

Beginning at 9 p.m. all are invited to enjoy old fashion singing, testimonies, and preaching. This will be followed by a late night buffet.

Just before midnight there will be an opportunity to join at the alter and pray the old year out and ring the new year in with a shout.
