Womack Understands Cumberland

Editor, The Herald:

When I read the misleading attack letter on Mr. Womack in last week's Farmville Herald, I had to respond.

Mr. Womack understands that to preserve our rural lifestyle, the county needs to offer educational and job opportunities for our children. The letter attacks the new High School-the pride of our Dukes-as being unnecessary. It even says Mr. Womack didn't support some businesses. Neither of these could be further from the truth.

Mr. Womack supports businesses-every business-in the county. All you need to do is look at his voting record. He also supports education-especially vocational training to keep our children in Cumberland.

The letter then attacks tax increases and county costs. Well, in this day and age I am glad we have 24-hour sheriff coverage. Also, Mr. Womack has voted to reduce taxes many more times than increase taxes. Our taxes are not higher than surrounding counties.

I want to know how the letter writer would somehow better understand our community, its economy and control costs.

I know what Mr. Womack wants and I know what his record is-great schools and great jobs in our county, with the least amount of government needed to keep us safe. He has my vote.
