DILLWYN, Oct. 20 – Mattie “Katherine” Godsey, 89, of Dillwyn, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at her home. Born in New Canton, May 1, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Leslie Leak and Mattie Sue Dunkum Davis.

Survivors are two daughters, Glenda Harris Craft (Roger) of Dillwyn and Sandra Godsey Mills (Danny) of Rocky Mount; sister, Dorothy Mitchell Micklem (Ned) of Powhatan; two grandchildren, Raymond Beadles Allen (Jessica) of Dillwyn and Jasmine Mills of Rocky Mount; step-granddaughter, Morgan Mills Blankenship and two very attentive nieces, Marilyn Davis Snoddy and Joan Davis Robertson. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Raymond Beadles Harris and William Earl Godsey, four brothers, Joseph B. Davis, Leslie L. Davis, John Thomas Davis and Benjamin P. Davis and two sisters, Mary Elsie Davis Clements and Gracie Virginia Davis.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 20, at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, Dillwyn. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Rocky Mount United Methodist Church or Buckingham County Rescue Squad.
