With 20 seconds to play in the first half, Fuqua School and Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot were deadlocked in a 0-0 tie in a game that ended up as a 28-12 loss for the Falcons. Those 20 seconds were the key moments of the game.

In those 20 seconds, BS-Huguenot scored to go up 7-0, and then recovered an onside kick and scored on a broken play as time ran out to give the Knights a 14-0 lead.

“The way I understand it is their kicker was instructed to squib the kick, to keep it out of Charles' [Williams] hands,” said FS head coach Lewis “Skeeter” Fore. “He missed hitting the ball in the right place, but it ended up working out well for them. Either way, we shouldn't have allowed that second touchdown.”<br />
Fuqua scored on a Williams one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to cut the Knights' lead to 14-6, but BS-H scored twice to put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter.

Fuqua senior tailback Larry Haskins scored on a 30-yard pass reception from Carter Cunningham to account for the Falcons' final score.

“We played well,” said Fore. “Considering how we played the last two weeks we had coming into the game, we really played well. Hopefully, we can build on it as we go into Friday's game.”

Haskins led the Falcons in rushing with 55 yards on eight carries, while Williams had 13 carries for 46 yards. Cunningham was 6-11 for 101 yards and the touchdown pass to Haskins, while Williams was 1-1 passing for 15 yards. Haskins caught three balls for 81 yards.

Haskins led the Falcons on defense with 17 total tackles (13 solo) to go along with an interception. Williams had 10 stops (six solo) and a forced fumble.

The Falcons will host Roanoke Catholic in a game that will be crucial to their playoff hopes, as Fuqua is battling Roanoke Catholic and Hampton Christian (Fuqua's opponent next week) for the third or fourth playoff spot in a four-team field.

“These next three weeks will be our season,” said Fore. “If we lose any one of the three, we're probably not going to the playoffs.”
