OCTOBER 18 – Edith McLean Townsend, 90, of Farmville, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 in Farmville.

Born in Caldwell County, NC, January 15, 1921, Mrs. Townsend was the daughter of the late Wallace G. and Mary E. Talbort McLean. She was retired as a seamstress with Crewe Garment Company.

Surviving is a son, Ralph E. Townsend Jr.; granddaughter, Angela T. Jacobs (Dennis) all of Farmville; brother, Olen G. McLean of Petersburg; two sisters, Carrie Cloer of Hudson, NC and Lydia Counts of Farmville; a very special nephew, Ulysses McLean of Mechanicsville; two special nieces, Evelyn Claudin Rudd and Mary Joan Mann both of Amelia; great-granddaughter, Martha D. Kahn (Tim) of Richmond and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Townsend Sr., brother, Wallace Owen McLean and sister, Lois M. Talbort.

A graveside funeral service was held Sunday, October 16, in the Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery.
