BUCKINGHAM ― The Buckingham County Volunteer Rescue Squad is hosting its Fright Night Boo Thru on Friday, October 28, from 8 p.m. to midnight; and on Saturday, October 29, from 7 p.m. to midnight.
You'll be able to drive through for a $10 donation per car to the BCVRS. However, as the spokesperson warned, “Beware of what is hiding in the dark.”
The BCVRS Fright Night Boo Thru will take place at the Dillwyn Squad Building located off Route 15 at 222 Wingo Road.
The Harvest Festival at Sheppards will be held at Concord Baptist Church on Saturday, October 29, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
This great fall fest is a joint effort of Smyrna United Methodist Church, New Store Presbyterian Church, and Concord Baptist Church.
Activities will include games, a moon-bounce, barrel train rides, and hayrides. This fun-filled day for kids of all ages will also include craft exhibits, a bake sale, and food.
Please note that later in the evening at 5 p.m., there will be free Brunswick stew and a Trunk-or-Treat event.

Chestnut Grove Baptist Church is hosting its Fall Festival and you're invited.
This great afternoon of fall fun is planned for Saturday, October 29, beginning at 3 p.m.
The festival includes hayrides, activities for the entire family, and an opportunity to check out a real fire truck. Kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. And, a hot dog supper will be provided.
Chestnut Grove Baptist Church is located off Route 636, Francisco Road, on Route 612, Chestnut Grove Road.
The Woman's Club of Buckingham County is gearing-up for its annual fundraiser, the Curious Corner Store.
Celebrating its 31st year, Curious Corner Store will open on Saturday, October 29. Although the store will be closed on Sunday, it will reopen on Monday, October 31 and run through Thursday, November 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, at the VFW Hall on Route 60, west of Sprouses Corner.
Curious Corner features good used clothing and miscellaneous household items. Rada knives and fresh pecans will be available. You'll also be able to place orders for freshly made Christmas wreaths for the holidays. The inventory also includes fresh baked goods, and jams and jellies.
Lunch will be served each day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. You'll be able to dine at the store or have your order prepared for take-out.
Get curious about Curious Corner Store and stop by for a visit. There's something for everyone. And, proceeds allow the WCBC to continue its good works in this community.
Yes, all you Halloween thrill seekers-the Spooky Hollow Drive-Thru will be waiting for you on Saturday, October 29, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Hosted by Historic Buckingham, Inc., this ghostly fundraiser is held at the Historic Village at Lee Wayside, just off Route 60 at Lee Wayside. And, it's just $10 for a carload. Plus, proceeds benefit the on-going efforts of Historic Buckingham, Incorporated and the Historic Village.
Mt Zion Baptist Church is hosting a Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday, October 30, beginning at 6 p.m.

The Auxiliary for the Toga Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary is holding a benefit at the McDonald's in Dillwyn on Wednesday, November 2. The event will run from 5 until 8 p.m.
Stop in and have dinner at McDonald's and 10 percent of the profit taken in by McDonald's will be donated to the Toga Auxiliary.
Whether you are a Big Mac fan or, longing for that Angus Deluxe Snack Wrap and a Happy Meal, let's meet at McDonald's on Tuesday, November 2 for dinner.

Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church is hosting a fundraiser on Friday, November 4, that will not only keep you out of the kitchen but will also offer an evening of music by Second Time Around.
Beginning at 5 p.m., you'll be on the receiving end of a delicious ham dinner with your choice of two vegetables. Additionally, the meal includes a roll, dessert, and beverage-all for a donation to the church.
Following the meal, Second Time Around will offer up that special gospel music that feeds the soul.

On Saturday, November 5, the Toga Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a benefit for two Buckingham residents, Dyches Seay and Brue Shumaker, to help with their on-going medical expenses.
The Brunswick stew will be ready at 12 noon. However, music begins at 11 a.m., with Carl Burmaster. At 12 noon, Buckingham Branch Bluegrass will take the stage. Then, at 1 p.m., the Old Time Gospel Singers will perform.

Central Virginia Christian School is hosting an auction on Saturday, November 5, 4 p.m., at the school. Admission is free and the event includes both a live and silent auction. Food will also be available for purchase.

Straight Street-Buckingham is hosting a Fall Bazaar on November 4 and 5; and again the following weekend on November 11 and 12 at the Straight Street building located on Route 20.
During its operation, the Bazaar will be open on Fridays, November 4 and 11, from 12 noon to 6 p.m.; and on Saturdays, November 5 and 12, from 7 a.m. to noon.
Individuals, churches, or organizations interested in selling food, yard sale items, or other goods may rent a space for $25 for both weekends.
The building will be open on Thursday, November 3, from 5 to 9 p.m. for participants to set up their booths.

Attention artisans, crafters, and shoppers, Buckingham Active Seniors invites you to participate in its inaugural craft fair scheduled for Saturday, November 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the VFW Hall on Route 60.
Chili will also be sold by the meal or quart. Meals will include cornbread, dessert and beverage.
