September 15 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Charlotte Davis, of New Canton and Curtis Marion, of Cumberland, celebrating on Sunday, September 18; Scott Midkiff, of Cumberland, celebrating on Tuesday, September 20; Brian Baird and Kim LeSueur, both of Dillwyn, celebrating on Wednesday, September 21; and Sherry Midkiff, of Cumberland, celebrating on Thursday, September 22.

Larry and Barbara Barone, of Cumberland, visited in the home of Pete and Annie May Miles in Dillwyn on Monday afternoon, September 12.

A luncheon was held on Sunday afternoon, September 11, at the home of Ruby Cogdill in honor of her daughter Elizabeth Cook's birthday. Attending were Elizabeth, Tina and Holly Cook all of Powhatan, Patsy Jones of Pamplin and Tommy and Mary Davis of Sutherland. A nice time was had by all.

Billy Boyles, of Amelia, celebrated his 90th birthday on Saturday, September 3. A birthday party was given in his honor at his residence in Amelia on Saturday afternoon September 10. A nice crowd enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship.

Our prayers and thoughts go out this week to all those who are sick and shut-in.

Our prayers and best wishes for a continued speedy recovery are sent out this week to Pete Miles, of Dillwyn. He fell on Sunday afternoon September 11. He is reported to be getting along nicely as of this writing.

Dot Brown of Richmond, visited her sister Ann Carter in Dillwyn over the weekend.

Congratulations to Kevin and Rene Marion of Cumberland. The couple will celebrate their 23rd wedding anniversary on Saturday, September 17.

The Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church Thrift Store located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on Circle Drive is open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds from the thrift store are used to help individuals and families in their hour of need.
