Sept. 1 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Dorothy Mitchell, of Powhatan, and Mike Boyles, of Cumberland, celebration on Saturday, September 3 and Frank Baird, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Thursday, September 8.

Bradley Carter, of North Carolina, visited his sister, Ann Carter, of Dillwyn, last week.

Happy Anniversary wishes go out to Alan and Tammy Gough, of Winginia, celebrating on Saturday, September 3.

Our prayers and thoughts go out this week to all those who are sick and shut-in.

Pete Miles, of Dillwyn, visited in the home of Curtis and Faye Marion in Cumberland on Tuesday, August 30.

Note: As we approach the Labor Day Weekend which begins on Friday evening September 2 and stretches through Monday night, September 5, please allow plenty of time to reach your destinations as the roads promise to be extra busy. Remember to buckle up, not only is it safe, it's the law. Have a great and safe holiday weekend.

Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church, located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 672 in Arvonia, will host a dinner and Gospel Sing on Saturday, September 10. A covered dish meal will be served at 6 p.m. followed by Southern Gospel Music from Randy Sims and Friends from Staunton. This is a rescheduled event. It had been scheduled at the time of Hurricane Irene on Saturday, August 27. All are invited to cordially invited to attend.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a non-profit organization, will hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday, September 12, at 5 p.m. at Browns Chapel United Methodist Church, located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 617 (Gravel Hill Rd.). All members are asked to attend and bring a covered dish for the cookout. Note: The Association will provide hot dogs, hamburgers and buns.
