SEPTEMBER 13 – Frances Elizabeth Bradshaw Bruce, 92, of Farmville, passed away Friday, September 9, 2011. She was born in Rice to the late Robert Melville and Ruth Elizabeth Hubbard Bradshaw. She was the widow of Franklin Bruce.

She was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church and remained a very active member in her church. Mrs. Bruce was a teacher at Amelia Academy where she taught first grade from 1967 until retiring in 1985. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her other interest was the game of golf and was a very avid golfer.

Mrs. Bruce is survived by her children, Carol Scott Bruce Bachmann and husband, John of Nashville, TN, Franklin Alexander Bruce Jr. and wife, Janet of Blacksburg, and Elizabeth Tanner Bruce Cox and husband, Kevin of Richmond; brother, Robert Julian Bradshaw; grandchildren, Page Bachmann King and husband, Fred of Wallingford, PA, Anne Bachmann James and husband, Bedell of Nashville, TN, Mary Catherine Bachmann Robbins and husband, Gene of Chattanooga, TN, Meredith Pauley Cox of Washington D.C., Elizabeth Jennings Cox of Richmond, and Jacob Alexander Harer of Raleigh, NC and great-grandchildren, Roggen and Charlotte King, Eb, Tanner and Foster James and Grady and John Robbins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Leigh Bradshaw Gardner.

A memorial service was held Monday, September 12 in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home.
