CUMBERLAND COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION

The Cumberland County Planning Commission will meet on Monday, September 19, 2011, at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in Room C-8 of the Cumberland County Community Center located at the corner of Anderson Highway (Route 60) and Forest View Road (Route 628) in Cumberland, Virginia, to conduct a public hearing pursuant to Virginia Code Section 15.2-2204, which such hearing may be continued or adjourned, as required under applicable law, and to consider the following item and taking actions in furtherance thereof:

Rezoning Request No. 11-04 – A rezoning request of approximately 3.448 acres of property currently zoned R-2, Rural Residential to B-1, Business. The property is designated as tax map parcel 57A2-A-34B, which is located on the south-side of Anderson Highway (Route 60), directly behind the old Marion's Buy-Rite building and the current Exxon gas station, located across Route 60 from the Cumberland County Administration Building. The property is currently vacant cleared land and if rezoned the applicant proposes to develop it for additional parking and storage for a business proposed to be located in the old Marion's Buy-Rite building, located at 1481 Anderson Highway, Cumberland VA 23040. The property is within the Courthouse Growth Area as designated by the Comprehensive Plan and is within Election District 3.

Copies of the complete text of the above rezoning proposal and associated plan are available for public review at the office of the Cumberland County Planning Department, County Administration Building, 1 Courthouse Circle, Cumberland, Virginia between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm of each business day. The public is invited to attend this hearing at which persons affected may appear and present their views.
