August 11 – “To break a bad habit, drop it.”

On Friday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m., Bob Flippen and members of the Prospect Historical Society will treat you to a most interesting tour of Prospect. They will be talking about the way it was a few year back. This will be one of Bob Flippen's “High Bridge” talks/walks. Prospect is about nine miles west of Farmville, the walk will start at the depot, parking will be at the depot.

The descendants of Dora and Luther Stockton held their annual reunion this year at the Darlington Heights Fire Department Aug. 6. There was plenty of good food and a good time was had by all those present. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Coy Lee (Judy) Harris of Flag Pond, Tennessee; J.W. Higgins of Roanoke; Mr. and Mrs. Danny (Geri) Newcomb and granddaughter Morgan Price of Buffalo Junction; Mrs. Iva Sizemore of Clarksville; Mr. and Mrs. Jeff (Meg) Eastman and Elliot of Richmond; Harold Higgins and Wanda Nash of Farmville; Mr. and Mrs. Wilkie (Dora) Chaffin of Five Forks (Prince Edward Co.); Rhonda Rowland of Farmville; Dr. and Mrs. John (Frances) Turner of Farmville; Mary Jo Stockton and Sean of Farmville; and Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Stockton of Tuggle.

Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy (Peggy) Early, of Richmond, helped her uncle and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Carl (Sadie) Kelsey, celebrate their 56 wedding anniversary on Monday. While in Richmond Carl and Sadie decided to go shopping. We wish for you many more happy anniversaries.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fulcher and Pearl Fulcher attended a benefit for Scott Crews at the Toga Fire Department on Saturday. John and Pearl's sister Betty from Lynchburg was also in attendance.

Hilda Allen along with Mr. and Mrs. Kevin (Laurie) Justus and Jacob traveled to Evergreen on Saturday to attend the Messiah's Mansion, “The Gospel in Symbols.”

Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Betty) Noblin joined her brother and his wife, Tommy and Pat Arrington at their river home on the Chesapeake Bay for several days last week. Joining them were Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Shirley) Richardson and Ruth Garrow.

Mr. and Mrs. David (Paula) Noblin and children Brady and Allie of Chesapeake visited his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Betty) Noblin over the weekend.

Peggy Kelsey was delighted Saturday when her son Phil Kelsey, of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, visited her; he brought his grandson and her great-grandson, Bryson Philander Kelsey, of Richmond, with him.

Miss Stacy Bolt visited her grandmother Flora Bolt on Thursday, while visiting Stacy gave her grandmother a hand with some cleaning. Mrs. Ashley Pacquette came visiting on Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Teri) Bolt grandchildren Haley and Payden, Mrs. Ashley Pacquette joined Flora Bolt for lunch at the LaParoti Grill on Sunday.

Family, friends and neighbors are sending special get well wishes to all those who are sick at this time; Dale Mottley, Grace Moton, Eloise Tucker and Sharon Carney.

Neighbors and friends are expressing their sincere sympathy to the family of George Womack. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
