Aug. 11 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Odel Ragland, of Buckingham, celebrating on Friday, Aug. 12; Karen Agnew, of Glen Allen, celebrating on Saturday, Aug. 13; Jane Cooke, of Brookneal, celebrating on Monday, Aug. 15; Tom Snead (81), of Glen Allen, celebrating on Tuesday, Aug. 16; Stacey Givens, of Brookneal and Lillian Styers, of Drakes Branch, celebrating on Wednesday, Aug. 17; and Joe Covington, of Dillwyn and Barry Miles, of Cumberland, celebrating on Thursday, Aug. 18.

Our prayers and thoughts go out this week to all those who are sick and shut-in.

Welcome home to Ruby Cogdill, of Cumberland, who spent a few days recently at Central Southside Community Hospital in Farmville. She is said to be getting along nicely.

The annual Boyles Family Reunion was held August 6 in Ararat. Attending locally was James and Virginia Boyles, of Cumberland. A nice crowd enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship.

Barbara Daniels, of Cumberland, Barbara Barone and her daughter, Jan, of Cumberland, and Tommy and Mary Davis, of Sutherland, all recently visited in the home of Ruby Cogdill in Cumberland.

Welcome home to Raymond Sledge, of Cumberland, who has returned home after spending a period of time in the hospital. He is said to be doing okay. Your thoughts and prayers are still desired.

The Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church Thrift Store, located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on Circle Drive in Arvonia (the former Agnes's Market building), is open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store has clothing, shoes, furniture, small and large appliances, etc. All proceeds from the Thrift Store are used to help individuals and families in their hour of need.

The 2011 former Craddock Terry shoe factory employees will have their annual breakfast meeting on Saturday, Aug. 13, at 9 a.m. at Country Cookin in Farmville. All are welcome to attend.
