DILLWYN, Aug. 30 – Herman Shepherd Springer, 86, of Dillwyn passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 in Dillwyn. Born in Buckingham County, December 3, 1924 to the late B. H. and Evie Shepherd Springer, he was a life-long farmer. He was a member of Buckingham Baptist Church and lover of old cars.

Surviving are his sisters, Edith Minckler of Makanda, IL, Naureene Wenger of Tappahannock, and Ruth Reynolds of Roanoke; special cousin, Carl Arthur Springer and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Lena Davidson Springer, brother, J. B. Springer and sister, Allene Morgan.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 1 at Buckingham Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
