DILLWYN, Aug. 23 – George Brooke Wood, 73, passed away suddenly Sunday, August 22, 2011 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.

He retired from C.W. Wright Construction Company as assistant General Foreman after 38 years of dedicated service. He will be remembered by his soft spoken words, respected intellect, family tree resourcing, his carefully cared for fruit trees and thorn-less blackberry plants as well as his bountiful vegetable garden. He was a true farmer who loved God's land and he leaves to mourn and miss him, too, his beloved “lap” cats.

Mr. Wood was a treasure in the Wood family. We all will sorely miss him – “to live is Christ, to die is Gain” – he has gained in our loss.
