BUCKINGHAM ― Mourners Valley Baptist Church is hosting its annual Friends and Family Day on Saturday, August 27, at the Redwood Center on Route 15.
This great afternoon of fun, fellowship, and food begins at 12 noon. Food is provided so all you need to bring is a chair and/or blanket.
Oh, and yes, there are lots of games and activities planned so don't forget your game face, which by the way is the one with the smile.
Everyone is invited, so gather up your family and friends and join with the Mourners Valley Family for a wonderful afternoon.
Hatcher Baptist Church invites everyone to Homecoming Weekend, August 26, 27, and 28.
On Friday, August 26, and Saturday, August 27, services will begin at 7:30 each evening. Guest speaker will be Dr. Kenneth Cloud, father of the church's pastor, Cameron Cloud.
Each evening's service will include music by the Cloud Family.
On Sunday, August 28, the worship service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with music by the Daybreak Quartet.
Dr. Cloud will be the featured speaker for the Homecoming worship service, joining his son at the pulpit.
Following worship, the traditional homecoming luncheon with all the delicious food and great fellowship will be shared.
Hatcher Baptist Church is located at the intersection of Gravel Hill Road, Route 617, and Trents Mill Road, Route 622.
The Reverend Brant Hays and the members of Glenmore United Methodist Church cordially invite you to worship with them during Homecoming and Revival.
Homecoming will be celebrated on Sunday, August 28, starting with a song service at 10 a.m., featuring music by Smoky Wilson. The homecoming worship service will begin at 11:15. Afterwards, the traditional homecoming lunch will be served.
Revival services will be held Monday, August 29 through Friday, September 2, at 7:30 p.m. each evening. The Reverend Billy Swan will be the guest speaker.
Music will feature Shelly Kitchen on Monday, Dallas Jent on Tuesday, Billy and Linda Ballowe on Wednesday, Shelby Taylor on Thursday, and Maynard Jones and the Jones Family on Friday.
“Please make plans to attend,” shared a spokesperson. “We are expecting great things and want to share them with you.”
Glenmore UMC is located on Route 602 at 7988 Howardsville Road.
Enon Baptist Church is also celebrating Homecoming on Sunday, August 28. The day begins with worship service at 11:15 a.m.
Lee Davis, of Cedar Baptist Church, will lead the service; and Charlie Shumaker will be the guest speaker.
After worship, the always-delicious homecoming luncheon will be shared in the midst of loads of fellowship and friendship.
Homecoming ushers in three nights of revival for Enon. Each evening of revival will begin with special music at 7:15 and services at 7:30.
On Monday, August 29, the Reverend Lewis Brandt will be in the pulpit; and, music will feature the Salem United Methodist Church Choir.
Tuesday night, August 30, will feature music by Amanda Duncan; and the Reverend George Woods will be preaching.
On Wednesday, August 31, Pastor Wayne Tyree of Mt. Zion Baptist Church will be in the pulpit; and the choir from Mt. Zion will be singing.
The Enon Baptist Church family extends a heartfelt welcome to everyone to join with them for the joys of Homecoming and the renewal of Revival. Enon Baptist Church is located on Route 640, Andersonville Road.
Trinity United Methodist Church is celebrating Homecoming on Sunday, August 28, beginning at 11 a.m. with the morning worship service.
Revival services are planned for Monday, August 29 through Wednesday, August 31, at 7:30 each evening. On Monday, the church's pastor the Reverend Donald Moore will be the featured speaker. The Reverend John Flood will be the guest speaker on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Special music will be included in each service; and, Tuesday night's service will feature music by Cody Moss.
Following the Wednesday night service, there will be a fellowship hour with refreshments.

How many gallons of water run off your roof in 1 inch of rain? A 40' by 20' roof can yield up to 500 gallons of water, believe it or not.
The Peter Francisco Soil and Water District is working cooperatively with the Buckingham Extension Office in conducting a Rain Barrel Workshop on Wednesday, August 31, at 6 p.m. at the Buckingham Agricultural Center.
A short informational presentation on groundwater recharge and surface water runoff will lead off the workshop. After the presentation, registered participants will assemble their own rain barrel(s). These black, plastic, 55-gallon barrels are waiting to become part of your landscaping plan.
If you want to conserve water or even lower water costs, a rain barrel is just one step in promoting environmental conservation practices. A rain barrel collects and stores rainwater from your rooftop to use later for things like lawn and garden watering and washing pets. Rain barrels save water during peak summer months for use outdoors instead of paying a higher water bill or using a well and electricity.
A fee of $30 per barrel is required at sign-up to cover the cost of supplies for all make-your-own barrels. Participants may also choose to purchase pre-assembled barrels for $35 per barrel. There is an additional fee of $5 for each connector kit if you wish to connect two barrels together.

Arvonia Volunteer firefighters are gearing up for another great Labor Day Weekend Chicken BBQ. The BBQ is planned for Sunday, September 4, at the Arvonia Volunteer Fire Department on Arvon Road.
Chicken will be ready at 2 p.m. The menu features one-half barbecued chicken, Cole slaw, baked beans, roll, dessert, and beverage-all for an $8 donation per meal.
You'll be able to dine at the fire department or have your meals packed for carryout. Maybe you'll want to do both.
This is a great time to show your support for these dedicated volunteers. And, what better time to do so! Yep, what could be better than BBQ Chicken AVFD-Style?
Rocky Mount United Methodist Church is celebrating Homecoming on Sunday, September 4, beginning with Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship at 11:15. The church's pastor, the Reverend Veronica Barrell will be preaching.
After the worship service, a covered dish luncheon will be shared. Then, after all that good food and fellowship, there will be a musical service in the sanctuary.
Revival services will be held each evening from Monday, September 5, through Friday, September 9, at 7 p.m. each evening. The Reverend Thomas R. Dunkum will be the guest preacher. Each service will feature different musicians who will be sharing their gift of music and their ministry.
“We look forward to sharing this week of celebration and worship with you,” shared Pastor Barrell.

Do you wanna dance? Instructor Sandra Magialetti is ready, willing, and definitely able to provide an introduction of five different types of Ballroom and Latin Dances.
Participants will learn about four different steps to each dance. Dances covered may include Waltz, Rumba, Cha-Cha, West Coast Swing, and Salsa/Mambo.
Classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in the concourse at Buckingham County High School. The course runs from September 6 through November 8. Cost is $40.
