RICE, Aug. 18 – Betty C. Eagle, 76, of Rice, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011 in Lynchburg. She was born April 4, 1935 in Prince Edward County.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda C. Owen and husband, Curtis of Rice, and Shirley C. Marston and husband, Alfred of Chester; three grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Owen of Rice, Brian Adam Marston and Travis Alan Marston both of Chester; great-granddaughter, Malia Faith Charles of Rice; sister, Inez Tuscan of Lynchburg; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special niece, Rosetta Tuscan of Farmville, who was like a daughter to her and was always there for her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maggie Ola Coleman Sims and Charles Cleveland Coleman, brothers, Charles Edward Coleman, Thomas Henry Coleman, Ernest Lee Coleman Sr. and sister, Maggie V. Hines.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 20, in the chapel of Shorter Funeral Home with interment to follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
