July 21 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Chris Cooke, of Cartersville, celebrating on Monday, July 25; Charlotte Morris, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Tuesday, July 26, and Virginia Doss, of Appomattox, celebrating on Wednesday, July 27.

Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, and Darlene Christian, of New Canton, enjoyed an evening of food, fun and fellowship, at a Dillwyn restaurant on Friday, July 15.

Our prayers and thoughts go out this week to all those who are sick and shut-in.

Pete and Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, visited several residents at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Dillwyn and, also, in the home of Earl and Gladys Absher also in Dillwyn on Friday, July 15.

Maranatha Baptist Church, located on Tuggle Road, will host a Gospel Music Concert on Sunday, July 31, at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall. At 6 p.m., Southern Gospel music will be presented by Smokey Wilson, of Concord. A love offering will be received. All are cordially invited to attend. Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, visited in the home of Wayne and Tempy Davenport and Pauline LeSueur, in Dillwyn, on Wednesday, July 20. The Mileses stated, “Great fellowship with fine Christian loving friends and a caring family who loves all.”

Our sympathy is extended to the Mary M. Taylor family of Dillwyn. Mary M. Taylor, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 13. A funeral service was held July 16. She will be greatly missed by all. She was a long time member of the Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association.

Barry and Linda Miles, Cheryl Canipe and daughter, Danielle Edwards, of Henrico County, all enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship as they had brunch at a Midlothian restaurant on Sunday, July 17.

Annual homecoming and revival services will be held at Browns Chapel United Methodist Church on Gravel Hill Road, north of Dillwyn. Homecoming services will begin Sunday, July 24, with a song service at 10 a.m., featuring Smokey Wilson of Concord.

Worship services will begin at 11:15 a.m. with the church pastor, Veronica Barrell, to bring the morning message. This will be followed by lunch in the church fellowship hall.

Revival services will be held Monday, July 25, through Friday, July 29, nightly at 7 p.m. The guest speaker for the week will be Rev. Robert Woodfin, of Keysville. Special music Monday night, July 25, will be provided by The Ownby Trio; Tuesday night, July 26, by Red Clay; Wednesday night, July 27, by Shelby Taylor and Alexandria Carney; Thursday night, July 28, by the Cedar Baptist Church choir; and Friday night, July 29, by Second Time Around.

NOTE: On Friday at the close of the revival meeting, a watermelon feast will be held in the church fellowship hall. All are cordially invited to attend. For further information, contact Pastor Veronica Barrell at 434-983-2400.

There will be a benefit Bar-B-Que Dinner and Concert on Saturday, July 23, for cancer patient, Debbie Trent, of Cumberland, at Hatcher Baptist Church, located on Trents Mill Road in Cumberland County. At 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m., bar-b-que dinners will be served for a donation. At 6 p.m., gospel music will be rendered by Joyful Noise, Glory Road and the Ownby Sisters. A love offering will be received. Henry Fulcher, of radio station WFLO in Farmville, will serve as master of ceremonies. All are welcome to attend.
