Prince Edward County will accept sealed proposals for the construction of roadway improvements along US 15, Route 786, and Route 628 in Prince Edward County, VA. The bids will be received at the County Administration Office, Third Floor, Prince Edward County Courthouse and publicly opened and read aloud at 2:00 p.m., local prevailing time, on August 4, 2011. The mailing address for Prince Edward County is P.O. Box 382, Farmville, VA 23901 and the physical address is 111 N. South Street, Farmville, VA 23901.

The project consists of providing all of the labor, necessary materials, and construction equipment to construct the project as outlined above and as shown on the plans and directed in the specifications. The Successful Bidder on the project will be expected to provide all materials necessary for the completion of the project, including but not limited to soil, pipe, asphalt, concrete, guardrail, traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, and stone.

Each bidder will be required to submit a bid bond or certified cashiers check equal to 5% of his bid proposal. He will also be required to furnish Performance and Payment Bonds, equal to 100% percent of his contract price, without exception, before final execution of the contract is made.

Bidders are required under Title 54, Chapter 7 of the Code of Virginia to show evidence of Certificate of Registration before any bids may be received and considered on any bid or sale-contract of $20,000.00 or more.

South St., Farmville, VA, or at the offices of Hurt & Proffitt, Inc., 2524 Langhorne Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501, (434) 847-7796. A complete set of documents for the Project may be downloaded free of charge from http://www.handp.com/. Include complete street and mailing address with zip code, telephone and fax number with area code, and contractor's license number, if applicable. Printed plans and specifications are available from Hurt & Proffitt for a non-refundable fee of $150 (an additional $25 will be charged for shipping and handling, if requested). A pre-bid meeting will be held at the Prince Edward County Natural Resources Building Conference Room, 100 Dominion Drive, Farmville, VA at 10:00 a.m. local prevailing time on July 21, 2011. Questions about the project shall be submitted in writing to the engineer at psb@handp.com by 5:00 p.m. on July 19, 2011. Responses to submitted questions will be provided at the pre-bid meeting.
