The Prospect Historical Society will met July 5 in the old Post Office building in Prospect.

Mrs. Judith A. Reynolds hosted an Ice Cream Social for the Eastern Star No. 150 at her home in Keysville on Sunday afternoon. There were three kinds of ice cream with cookies, cake and toppings. The ice cream was delicious and the fellowship was great.

The Special Blessings of Glenn Memorial Baptist Church met on Monday to decorate socks and make bracelets. Those present for this activity were Mrs. Shirley Fulcher, Mrs. Shirley Mottley, Mrs. Evelyn Shelton, and Mrs. Jeannette Tarlton.

The Prospect Happy Hats met last Thursday with Hilda Allen and Betty Meadows as the hostesses. Hilda and Betty served a delicious lunch followed by the playing of a few games of Bingo. Everyone won a prize some time during the afternoon. Those enjoying the time together besides Hilda and Betty were Lorraine Chapman, Edith Vaughan, Elfrieda Kerns, Edwina Covington, Ann Norton, Joyce Floyd, Sandra Leonard, Susan Campbell, Margaret Stockton, Jeannette Tarlton, Elsie Wilson and Lois Johnson. They are now waiting for their activity for July.

The Class of 1956 of Farmville High School held its 55 class reunion this past Saturday afternoon at the Historic Farmville Train Station with 42 classmates, spouses, family members and associates present. During the afternoon a moment of silence was observed in honor of the 13 classmates who have passed away. A few of those present went away with a little more than happy memories as they won door prizes. Some even suggested we get together again in two or three years instead of five. The fellowship was the very best and the food was out of this world. The event was catered by Merk's Place.

On June 21, Mr. and Mrs. Don (Betty) Meadows celebrated their anniversary with a delicious meal at Applebee's. Friends and neighbors wish you many more.

Mrs. Kim Shumaker honored her husband, Mike Shumaker on Friday night with a party for his 50th birthday. The party was held on the deck of her mother Peggy Kelsey's home with about 70 guests present.

Mary Jo Stockton hosted a 50th birthday bash for her husband, Lon R. Stockton, Jr. with the help of their son Sean. There was lots of food and tons of family and friends. Family members present besides Mary Jo and Sean were Lon's daughter Michelle Walker, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Stockton, and a cousin Rhonda Rowland.

Mrs. Peggy Kelsey, Mrs. Polly Duncan, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Lena Rose) Huddleston recently traveled to Richmond to attend the funeral of their cousin John William Lowe, Jr.

Mr. and Mrs. Don (Betty) Meadows traveled to Buies Creek, North Carolina for the Memorial Service for Betty's aunt, Martha Holmes. There were about 30 family and friends present.

Miss Abby Kelsey is back at Duke for some test, she hopes to be home for good soon. Her dad Caleb Kelsey has been in the hospital in Lynchburg, his parents Carl and Sadie went to Lynchburg on Tuesday and brought him home.

Mr. and Mrs. John (Shirley) Fulcher had a big day on Saturday, first they attended the reunion for the class of 1956 then they attended the Rice Fire Department's Bash.

Mrs. Nancy Kelsey Williams of Newport News visited family and friends over the weekend. She was one of those attending the 55 class reunion of Farmville High School.

Family, friends and neighbors are sending special get well wishes to all those who are sick at this time. Tola Morgan, John Gager, Loren Orange, Abby Kelsey and Judy Jamieson are in need of your special prayers.
