Need something to do this weekend, well here a few things available; Friday evening check out the opening reception at the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts, watch “Father of the Bride” at the Crute Stage, or catch a performance of “The Nerd” at the Waterworks Players Theater. There's more:

Farmville Presbyterian Church is hosting a fund raiser on Friday night, June 10, for one of their members, Abby Kelsey. Abby is recovering from a double lung transplant. The funds raised will help with her doctors/hospital bills. The fund raiser is a Spaghetti dinner being served between 5 and 8 p.m., cost a donation, eat in or take out. Come by the Farmville Presbyterian Church and help in this worth while cause.

The PVFD auxiliary's annual Grilled Chicken Supper is coming up June 11th from 5-7 p.m. at the firehouse. The meal will include grilled chicken, green beans, potato salad, coleslaw, roll, tea, lemonade and dessert. The cost is a donation. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Nerd is the upcoming production of The Waterworks Players. The dates of this production are June 10 and 11 and again on the 17 and 18, these are Friday and Saturday nights. If you have not been to a production give it a try and if you have you will not want to miss this one.

Sean Stockton spent Wednesday with his grandparents, Richard and Margaret Stockton. They had a good time part of which they made cupcakes.

The annual 38th Penick Reunion was held this past Saturday, June 4, at the Gee-Price Building on the campus of the Fuqua School. Family members came from near and far to fellowship and enjoy each others company. Those locally attending were Mary Jo and Sean Stockton, and Richard and Margaret Stockton.

Mr. and Mrs. Don (Betty) Meadows traveled to Richmond on Tuesday visiting with two of their grandchildren, Josh and Kate Shotwell.

The family of Darrell Shumaker attended the first baseball game of the Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association last Friday night held at the Gene Dickerson Memorial Park. Darrell Shumaker was the pitcher for this first game.

Mr. and Mrs. John (Shirley) Fulcher spent Sunday afternoon supporting their great-grandchildren in their soccer games.

Saturday found John Fulcher and great grandson, Kenneth fishing at Holiday Lake. This was the free fishing day.

Mrs. Flora Bolt, Mrs. Deborah Lundeen, Mrs. Kathryn Powell and Mrs. Ann Beckham met on Tuesday the 7th of June at Applebee's for a business lunch and meeting of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

The 1944 class of Worsham High School held its 67th class reunion on Saturday the 4 of June at Sheldon's in Keysville. Many of the classmates were present as well as one of their teachers, Mrs. Rachel A. Pearson. A very good time was had by all.

Mrs. Christine Hamlett Oliver of Altavista spent the weekend with her twin brother Lindy Hamlett and his family. They all attended the 67th class reunion of Worsham High School.

Family, friends and neighbors are sending special get well wishes to all those who are sick at this time. Abby Kelsey and Judy Jamieson are in need of your special prayers.

Friends and neighbors are extending their sincere sympathy to Mrs. Virginia Goode and her family on the death of her husband.
