Gov. McDonnell To Speak At Founders Day

Published 3:54 pm Thursday, June 2, 2011

The Virginia United Methodist Assembly Center is busy preparing for its inaugural Founders Day address entitled Faith of Our Founding Fathers with keynote speaker Governor Robert F. McDonnell. The event is scheduled for June 11.

Governor McDonnell's address will be preceded by a colonial style dinner in Blackstone's grand dining room and followed by a lively debate between interpreters from Virginia Patriots for President George Washington (Kevin Grantz) and Governor Patrick Henry (Michael Wells). In addition, area youth will salute the Faith of Our Founding Fathers in song.

For guests wishing to spend the night VUMAC will serve a hearty Southern breakfast after which Bishop Hasbrouck Hughes will deliver the Sunday morning message on June 12. In addition, there will be a silent auction due to donations by United Methodists from across the Conference. Donated items range from stays at the beach and Smith Mountain Lake, oriental rugs, original art work, etc.
