Evergreen Music Festival

Published 3:44 pm Tuesday, June 14, 2011

On June 18, from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Evergreen Lavender Farm in Evergreen will present the 10th annual Evergreen Music Festival with a lavender twist.

At noon, local favorites “Shaky Grass” will be playing their blend of bluegrass, gospel, and traditional country music. Members Gene Williams, Roger Martin, Dennis Martin, Rosa Martin, Jack Burks, and Donald Hamilton, have been playing a variety of venus together for about five years. Their harmonious mix of vocals and instrumental rhythms is reminiscent of early bluegrass and country recordings. Deja Moo will be leading an old time dance under the tent at 2 p.m. There will be brief lessons on reels, circles, and square dances. The Sophisticatz will continue at 3:30 p.m. with their unique blend of jazz styles.

A touch of lavender will flavor the menu. The Babcock House of Appomattox will provide North Carolina style barbecue, slaw, chips, and tea. Lavender Pasta Salad will be their specialty. Cakes by Carol will have lavender cookies and cakes. Lavender lemonade, lavender soda, and other beverages will be available from Baine's Books and Coffee.
