Dukes 14th At State Meet

Members from the Cumberland High School boys track team fared well in the Group A Track & Field Championships held at Radford University on Saturday.

As a team, the Dukes placed 14th overall out of 42 teams that scored points with a team total of 14 points.

The Dukes were led by Antonio Richardson, who placed second in the Triple Jump and fifth in the Long Jump.

Jermaine Lee placed sixth in the 110-meter High Hurdles with a time of 15.82.

Buckingham's Girls 4x100m Relay Team of Tiffany Spencer, Kassie Conway, Sharonda Swann and Johniesha Smith placed 11th.

Other James River District place-finishers were John Clay of Amelia (5th, Discus), Jasmine Mitchell of Amelia (1st Long Jump, 400 meters, High Jump, 2nd 800m) and the ACHS 4x400m Relay Team. As a team, the ACHS girls placed fourth overall with 43 points. Additionally, the Randolph-Henry Girls 4×100 Relay Team placed eighth.

PE's Second Walton AA Meet

Prince Edward County High School junior Rashaad Walton placed second in the long jump with a leap of 22-feet, 2.25-inches at the Group AA State Meet held at Harrisonburg High School over the weekend. He also competed in the 200m dash.

Senior Brenae Carr competed in the Triple Jump. Senior Raheem Nash competed in the Long Jump and the Triple Jump, while classmate Dante Wardell competed in the 110m High Hurdles.

Also competing were juniors Ralick Lockett and Tyrek Goode, who competed in the Long Jump and High Jump, respectively.
