BUCKINGHAM ― Are you ready for some BINGO? The Toga Annual Community Benefit Committee is hosting 31 Bingo on Friday, June 24, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Toga Firehouse on Route 24.
Tickets are $20 for 20 rounds. Additional cards, daubers, and food will be available. And, yes, you can get your tickets at the door.
Proceeds from this night of Bingo and other Toga Annual Community Benefit happenings will be going to this year's beneficiary Scott Crews.
Scott suffered serious injuries during a car accident last fall. Although his recovery has been amazing, it has also been very costly as are his on-going medical expenses.
Before his accident, this determined and courageous young man was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed one. Now, it's our time-TOGA Community Benefit Time-to be there for him. Remember, the benefit is all about neighbor helping neighbor.
Cedar Baptist Church is hosting Vacation Bible School beginning Sunday June 26 through Thursday, June 30, from 6:30 until 9 each evening.
Classes will be available for all ages including an adult class that will begin at 7:30 p.m.
There will be a picnic on Sunday, June 26, at 5:30 p.m. to kick off the week.
Everyone is invited to come out and join in the fun and fellowship. Cedar Baptist Church is located at 3932 Bell Road.

Sharon Baptist Church is hosting Vacation Bible School Monday, June 27 through Friday, July 1, from 6:30 to 8:30 each evening.
With the theme Inside Out, Upside Down on Main Street, Where Jesus is Everyday, VBS at Sharon Baptist offers a great opportunity to grow in faith while enjoying crafts, music, activities, and fellowship.

On Monday, June 27, at 1 p.m., the Buckingham County Friends of the Library, Inc. will conduct its annual business meeting in the auditorium of the Buckingham Agricultural Center.
The meeting will include the election of the board of directors. Nominations will be accepted from the membership. Additionally, the agenda includes a recommendation by the board to increase individual dues to $10 and a family membership to $15.
All members of the Friends of the Library are encouraged to attend. And, those who are lifetime members of the former Buckingham County Friends of the Library, Inc., which was incorporated in 1983, will be able to continue as lifetime members upon presenting their lifetime membership card.
Mt. Zion Baptist Church will be hosting Vacation Bible School beginning on Tuesday, July 5 through Saturday, July 9, from 6 to 9 each evening.
Without leaving the New Canton area, VBS participants will be exploring New York City to learn about God.
Classes will be available for ages three through 13. Each night will include Bible study, crafts, recreation, and music and snacks as the kids learn about God's love.
On Saturday, July 9, the closing program will begin at 7 p.m. and will be include a picnic.

Yes, Buckingham, the Summer Arts Camp sponsored by the Buckingham County Arts Council will be held again this year from Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
This amazing day camp offers youth ages nine to 14 an opportunity to explore the arts. Classes include dancing, pottery, sculpture, polymer clay, enameling, watercolors, and more.
Cost is $65. However, there is a $5 discount for BCAC members or for multiple children from the same family.

If you haven't picked up a copy of the Buckingham County Recreation Summer Programs 2011 booklet, you'll want to stop by the county administration office to get a copy because it's chockfull of things to do this summer. For more information and/or registration, call 969-4242.
Swimming Lessons are available for ages three through 12; and, will be held at the Nazarene Camp's Olympic size pool. The Nazarene Camp is located across from Buckingham County Middle School.
Lessons are $40. Classes for ages five through seven will be held July 5 through 9. Tuesday through Thursday, classes will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. Friday's class will be from 10 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.; and Saturday's class from 10:30 to 11:10 a.m. Deadline to register for swimming lesson is June 30.
Classes for ages 8 through 12 on that same week, July 5 through 9, will be held Tuesday through Thursday from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.; on Friday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.; and on Saturday from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Classes July 11 through 15 are available for ages three to five, on Monday through Thursday from 6:30 to 7 p.m.; and on Friday from 10 to 10:40 a.m. Classes for age six through nine will be held Monday through Thursday from 7:15 to 8: p.m., and on Friday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.
Co-ed Basketball Camp: Youth ages 8 to 14 interested in basketball have the opportunity to register for Buckingham Instructional Co-ed Basketball Camp up until July 4.
The camp will be held July 18 through 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon each day at the Maysville Baptist Church gymnasium. Instructors will be Rick Caldwell and Dwayne Braxton. Cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt.
Quick Start Tennis: Children ages 6 to 11 are eligible for the Quick Start Tennis program developed by the United States Tennis Association. Designed to introduce tennis to youth at an early age, the program utilizes child-friendly equipment and techniques so that the kids learn while having fun playing tennis.
The first clinic will be held July 11 through 15, and the second clinic is scheduled for August 1 through 5. Classes are held from 6 to 7 p.m. each evening at Ellis Acres Memorial Park. Cost is $20.

Friends of Bill Anderson, who is battling cancer, want to honor him and let him know they are with him in his fight. Knowing how much Bill enjoys riding on his Harley, what better way to honor him than with a motorcycle ride, especially one benefiting cancer research.
The ride is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, at the Dillwyn Firehouse. Registration will begin at 11 a.m., with bikes out at 12 noon. Plans include a ride-by past Bill's residence.

And, if you don't have a motor cycle for the ride; or, if you're dreaming of a Harley, it's not too late to get a ticket for the Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department's raffle for a Harley Davidson 2011 FXDC Super Glide Custom. The drawing will be held on Saturday, July 9, at 11 a.m.
Tickets are $100 but only 300 are being sold so your odds are pretty darn good-if you get a ticket. And, that $100-it goes to a darn good cause-the Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department.
Please note that if less than 200 tickets are sold, proceeds will be drawn as a 50/50.
